Obviously, whoever came up with the whole 'girl gamer' stereotype had been spying on me - I'm a sucker for anything bright and colourful which involves patiently arranging falling blocks, swapping gems around, or platforming it up LEGO-style. Forget the 3Rs - I follow the 3Ps of gaming - PopCap, Puppies and Pokemon. And I love the colour pink. Therefore, the latest announcement from Nintendo's 3DS conference this morning has me somewhat excited - they've announced a pink 3DS, which has pipped the pretty pre-launch purple one to the post of '3DS colour I most want'.
The new 'Mystic Pink' 3DS - and also a DSi XL - have only been announced for Japan so far, being released on the 20th October. Considering we haven't even got the red one over here yet, and have no official release date for it (although rumours suggest it might launch alongside Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land in November/December) - America got it about a week ago, and Japan got it in July. Therefore, we probably have a fair wait ahead of us, meaning my Aqua Blue 3DS isn't dead quite yet.
Nintendo also mentioned a system update coming to Japan in November which will add the ability to record 3D video using the system's built in cameras, improvements to the eShop (hopefully not the same sort of 'improvements' Microsoft enjoy making to the Xbox Live Marketplace), as well as updates to the StreetPass Mii Plaza - hopefully in the form of new games and pictures to collect pieces for, seeing as we finished ours a while ago. Iwata also hinted at the potential for new SpotPass mini-games, although there were no specifics, so we'll have to wait and see.
