Yesterday, EA and Warner Brothers announced that two new Harry Potter games will be released to coincide with the two upcoming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows films. Like the films, the games will be in two parts, with Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1 due out this autumn, to co-incide with the film's release.
With a much closer relatioinship between EA and Warner Brothers, the game is said to follow the story of the film even closer than before - so much so that the film's producer, David Heyman assures us that "the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 videogame will capture the action and suspense of the upcoming film."
As a first for the Harry Potter games, the action in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1 takes place entirely outside Hogwarts, with players finding themselves far from the safety of the school grounds, on the run from hordes of merciless enemies. Taking a much more action and combat based approach than it's predecessors, players will have to fight for their survival, against ferocious creatures and adversaries both old and new, such as Death Eaters and Snatchers, whilst they try to destroy the source of Voldemort's power and immortality - the Horcruxes.
For those of you who haven't read the book, the story begins with Harry, Ron and Hermione setting out to destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes - a set of Dark Magic devices, which somehow help their owner gain immortality. They must do this on their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, as Voldemort and his Death Eaters have siezed control of both the Ministry Of Magic and Hogwarts, terrorising and arresting anyone who stands in their way. The long-feared war between Voldemort and those who oppose him has begun. Whilst searching for clues to lead them to the Horcruxes, and therefore the destruction of Voldemort, Harry and friends uncover an old and almost forgotten tale-the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks...
You'll be able to put your power to good use - and help stop the evil Voldermort, upon the game (and film's) launch this Autumn.
