New free furniture for Animal Crossing Lets Go to the City

Bling.

To celebrate Animal Crossing's 10th birthday (the series launched on the N64 in Japan in 2001) Nintendo have decided to release a new piece of furniture every month. The furniture will form the 'Golden Set' - so if your house could do with the Midas touch, make sure your Wii is connected to the internet, lob your 'Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City' disc into your Wii, and go and have a chat to Pete the Postman to claim this month's piece, the Golden Bed. You'll have to be quick though, as you only have till the 31st January before it goes! We wonder what the Happy Room Academy will have to say.

If you've never heard of Animal Crossing, it's a life-simulation game where you live in a village full of colourful characters, including the local shop owner, Tom Nook, who you happen to owe your mortgage to. Other than that, how you spend your time in Animal Crossing is really up to you. You could concentrate on paying off your mortgage, by doing errands for people, and selling the fruit, fossils and shells you find - which rewards you with bigger houses (and a further mortgage). Or you could try to catch the complete collection of insects and fish. Or spend your time cross-breeding flowers, just chatting to the locals, or trying to track down a piece of elusive furniture - in Animal Crossing, the possibilities are endless.
