I've always had a bit of an issue with cooking. Almost everything I put in an oven ends up burnt or on fire, resulting in my limiting myself to toast and the occasional pack of Super Noodles while hoping somebody else would be good enough to make me something without setting off the smoke alarm.
So when the original Cooking Mama arrived on the DS back in 2006 I figured my problems would be over. Here was a game where the whole idea was to follow a recipe to make the perfect dish. It would be like having Gordon Ramsey in my pocket, only without all the shouting. Of course that turned out to not be the case, but what I did get was an extremely addictive collection of mini-games that made great use of the DS touch screen. In face the series turned out to be quite the surprise package, with sequels later being made for the DS and Wii.
So it is, with a certain amount of happiness, that we can reveal that the series is to see its first new iteration since Cooking Mama: World Kitchen on the Wii as 505 Games have announced that they will be releasing Cooking Mama games for both the DS and 3DS.
Cooking Mama 4 will bring Mama into the world of 3D, with 505 Games promising to fully utilise the capabilities of the 3DS in the process. The company promise hundreds of new recipes for gamers to dig their teeth into, with a new feature that allows for dishes to be combined to create brand new recipes. The title will also support up to 4 players, with 505 Games hoping to bring Mama to the next generation of handhelds in style.
Cooking Mama World: Outdoor Adventures promises more of the same on the DS, with a host of new recipes and a promise that the simple, yet addictive, gameplay that has proven so popular in the past will be kept in tact for all of Mama's fans.
No specific release date has been provided yet, however 505 Games are aiming to have the titles in the hands of gamers at some point during Autumn of this year.
