While it's been widely speculated that Project Natal - Microsoft's incredibly advanced motion sensing camera, which tracks your body movements to allow you to play games without controllers, and even log into your xbox just by sitting in front of it, thanks to facial recognition - will be launching near the end of the year, we can now confirm that the device will be finding its way to a living room near you this October.
Letting on perhaps more than he should have in an interview with a Saudi Arabian TV station, Marketing Manager of Entertainment and Devices, Syed Bilal Tariq let slip that the camera was on for an October launch.
He was quoted as saying "We will be in a position to confirm the date after E3, which is in June. But definitely, it is going to be October 2010 - and we will have it in Saudi Arabia for sure."
If all the current rumours fall into place, this could lead to a potential showdown between the 3DS and Project Natal - although we doubt whether the sales of one would affect the other too much, as they're most likely aiming at different markets.
In other Natal related news, some retailers in Sweden have recently added Project Natal to their sites, along with what we're presuming is a placeholder price, as it certainly makes for uncomfortable reading. Currently listed at 1,499 SEK, or £132, the device would almost certainly price itself out of the market - although the pricing does seem unlikely, when previous rumours suggested the device would cost less than $80 - or around £56.
Still, with a release on track for this year, we can expect official confirmation of the price - and launch titles at E3, which kicks off on June 15th.
