They're some of the most recognisable kids TV characters out there - and after having been around for some 17 years, generating a total of over $5 billion in franchise sales in that time, you can certainly see why - but now comes the news that the Mightily Morphing ones will be heading to a console near you soon.

Saban Entertainment today announced that they've entered into a deal with Namco Bandai - the creators of Pac Man, Galaxian, and more recently, Soul Calibur, with an eye to producing games based on the spandex clad heroes and heroines.

"Power Rangers is one of the world's leading children's entertainment properties and we are delighted to see its return," said Haim Saban, owner of Saban Captial Group.

"We are also very proud and excited to renew our long-standing partnership with Namco/Bandai and know that this powerful combination of experience and capabilities will continue to support the global success of Power Rangers."

While there have been no specific games confirmed, it's a fairly safe bet to presume they'll be heading to the Wii and the DS in the next few months - something that's sure to be of interest to anyone with kids who watch the TV series, which, if their popularity is anything to go by, is most of them.
