As if we needed any more reasons to be excited for this one! Already one of our most anticipated Wii U launch games, Scribblenauts Unlimited is the latest entry in the popular wordy puzzle game, where the only limits to how you solve the puzzles is your imagination. Giving you a number of challenges to solve across a wide and varied world, thanks to the protagonist Maxwell's magical notebook, all you have to do is write a word to have it materialise in front of him, ready to do his bidding - meaning you can get that cat stranded up a tree down in all sorts of creative ways - maybe using a ladder, a fire engine, or simply dropping a dog in the tree with it. With plenty of puzzles promised and the opportunity to create and share your own creations with friends, Scribblenauts is shaping up to be one of the Wii U's early must-own titles - and with the addition of a few well-known characters to the mix, all the more so.
As you can see from the picture above, in Scribblenauts Unlimited, Maxwell's going to be joined by a few special visitors in the form of characters from top Nintendo series, Mario and Zelda. Sadly, though, the portly plumber and tight wearing Link will only be available in the Wii U version, though, supposedly due to time constraints (the 3DS game has apparently already gone off to be put onto cartridges). From what we've heard, players will be able to summon dozens of characters and items from the respective series, each of which will act in the ways you'd expect if you've played the games they're from. Which got us wondering about what uses the characters from Mario and Zelda may have...
Rivalling Kirby with his eating prowess, Yoshi would most likely be found vacuuming up every last piece of fruit in sight, whilst Luigi cowers in fear of pretty much anything and everything. Link would come with his trademark sword, shield and violent dislike for pottery, whilst his noble steed Epona would just be horsing around the stage, avoiding the maniacal rollings of the rocky Goron (the one that looks like a grumpy jelly baby in the picture). If you've got a leaky toilet, Mario is your man (after all, he is a plumber), while the princesses Peach and Zelda can offer fashion tips to any passing T-Rexes and try to avoid getting kidnapped at every available opportunity. As for items, we'd imagine mushrooms of every flavour will be available, as well as the magical Ocarina of Time which can change the time of day, the weather and more. Perhaps even the cute (read: annoying! - Ed) little mushroom man, Toad will make an appearance (and we can use him as bait for any angry monsters who fancy a mushroom flavoured snack - Ed)
Sadly, though, while the big new feature for the third Scribblenauts title is that you can now customise and create your own objects to summon, you sadly won't be able to alter any of the built-in Nintendo characters - so your dreams for a singing Link or flying Mario will have to be put on hold - for now, at least. In the meantime, we're going to glare in the general direction of America, who get Scribblenauts Unlimited as a Wii U launch title on the 18th of November - while we get the Wii U a fortnight later, and so far with no sign of Maxwell's word 'em up. Boo!
