Isn't it amazing how time flies? Only in February of this year, did we first get confirmation of a new title in the Mario and Luigi series of role playing games for the Nintendo 3DS - and already the game's release is just around the corner, on the 12th of July. To help whet our appetites, Nintendo have released a brand new trailer for the game, showing us a little bit more of what goes on inside Luigi's mind when he's asleep.
The latest instalment in the popular series of role playing games starring the red and green bros, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Saga actually takes place in a world that's only accessible when Luigi sleeps on a magical pillow. On a quest to rescue the kidnapped Peach, it's up to you to travel across a vast overworld following the game's story, talking to the weird, wonderful (and often rather oddball characters), and getting into all sorts of battles along the way. Unlike in the platform games, where a quick bonk on the head is all it takes to dispose of an enemy, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros makes use of turn based battles, letting you take it in turns to attack and defend against your enemy.
Winning battles enables you to gain experience to boost your health and attack power, as well as other stats. You can also use items and special skills to aid you; as shown in the video, one skill allows Luigi to pass bombs to Mario, who uses a hammer to smack them into foes rather like a baseball bat. There's also the rather hilarious move where Mario rolls a ball of Luigis, creating a giant ball of green that crashes into a foe. One thing's for sure - it's certainly the stuff dreams are made of...
The fourth in the long running Mario and Luigi series, the big key to this game is the whole idea of a 'Dream Team', as only Mario can enter the dream worlds. With Luigi trapped on the outside, it's up to him to influence Mario in the only you can - by taking control of mysteriously moustache shaped items by tugging on poor Luigi's moustache while he's asleep, whether you're moving a branch, or creating a whole new platform to help Mario out..
With Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros so close to launching, we're finding it difficult to have pleasant dreams at night too. Thankfully, the wait is nearly over - and to help yourself sleep a little better tonight, why not check out the trailer below?
