The announcements for Disney Infinity 2.0 have just been rolling in these last few months. June saw the announcement of the Meridia and Maleficent figures, and Marvel's Spiderman swung by with his own Play Set too. July brought with it the news of a Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set and the reveal of the Stitch and Tinker Bell figures, and now in August it's time to make way for a classic Disney couple to make their Infinity debut.
Disney Interactive have announced that the next duo of toys set to join the merry cast of the Infinity 2.0 Toy Box are Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, from Disney's classic 1992 film Aladdin, of course.
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios, Disney Infinity 2.0 is the sequel to last year's Disney Infinity, the immensely popular action-adventure game where players use real-world toys to play story based Play Sets and create their own adventures and explore in the Toy Box mode.
One of the most requested characters by fans since the days of the original Disney Infinity a year ago, Aladdin certainly has a few tricks up his...ah...right, he doesn't have sleeves - never mind. He comes with his trusty scimitar to use as a melee weapon, as well as his magic genie lamp, which he can use to suck up groups of enemies at once, Ghostbusters style.
Jasmine has some mean acrobatic martial arts style kicks and punches to use when up close and personal with enemies, and the ability to conjure up sand cyclones to use as powerful shockwave attacks. Just make sure you don't get any of that sand in your eyes.
Additionally, there are a set of four Aladdin-themed Power Discs (presumably included with the Aladdin figure), which each have different properties. Two of them - Jasmine's Palace View, and The Sands of Agrabah - transform the Toy Box's sky and land into the sandy deserts of Agrabah as seen in the film. The Aladdin's Magic Carpet and Rags to Riches Power Discs also allow you to emulate sections of the beloved film, with the former letting you recreate the flying carpet sequences, while the latter takes Aladdin out of his street threads and into his well-dressed Prince Ali costume for extra snazziness.
The Aladdin figure is due to release this Autumn, whilst Jasmine is set to be available sometime in early 2015, so you won't have long to wait once the game is out to reunite the couple in the Toy Box...
Disney Infinity 2.0 launches on the 19th September for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Wii U.
