While they may not seem like the first place you'd check for breaking news, online internet giant Amazon have quite often been known for leaking information - whether it's deliberate or not - months before a game's launch. Luckily for us, today's another one of those days, as they unveil a new feature for LEGO Star Wars 3.
According to the Amazon product listing for LEGO Star Wars 3 on the 3DS, the game has just earnt the honour of being the first announced to use Game Coins. Nintendo's latest innovation, Game Coins can be earnt through carrying your 3DS on you when you're out and about. Utilising the 3DS' built in pedometer, you'll unlock a certain amount of Game Coins for every number of steps you walk - although how far you'll have to walk to earn a coin remains unknown.
If the Amazon listing is anything to go by, you'll be able to spend your Game Coins in LEGO Star Wars 3's built in shop, either in leiu of, or along with the studs you collect through playing the game, in order to unlock new characters, cheat bricks, and possibly even levels. The listing specifically makes mention to the ability to "unlock new characters and [...] purchase bonus content", and also notes that the game will use SpotPass to unlock even more bonus material - although details are as scarce as a Wookie in a hairdressers.
It's good to see what's quite possibly our most anticipated 3DS game starting to shape up. First catching everyone off guard when it was announced by way of a brief clip in a video montage shown at the recent Discover 3DS press event in Amsterdam, we were surprised even further with the news that the game was playable in the backstage area. Not wasting any time, we got hands-on with LEGO Star Wars 3 on the 3DS - and we'll be posting our impressions up soon, so be sure to check back!
