A few months back, we reported on the most awesome news we'd heard for a good long while, that LEGO and Disney are teaming up to to create a brand new LEGO game in the form of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. Originally announced for the Wii, DS and Xbox 360, it's now been revealed that the plasticy pirates will be sailing onto the 3DS too, in May of this year.
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean will not only include levels based on the upcoming On Stranger Tides film, but will also take in the first three films, The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End. We're sure it'll also feature the trademark LEGO slapstick humour, a whole host of unlockable characters and collectables, and the same family friendly, co-op gameplay we've all come to know and love, too.
With the Nintendo 3DS' enhanced online functionality, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean on the 3DS will have an exclusive 'Pirate Duel' feature (whatever that means), as well as a chance encounter system and support for Nintendo's 'Play Coins', although the intricacies of these modes are still to be revealed. 'Pirate Duel' sounds like it could well be similar to Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition's figurine battles, where your little in-game statuette things battle other people's figures that you happen to walk past in the street, while LEGO Star Wars 3 3DS also recently announced support for Play Coins, which'll let you unlock new characters by spending coins you earn through the 3DS' built in pedometer.
We're sure to be getting more information on LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean soon,as well as more details on the 3DS-specific modes and features - so make sure you landlubbers keep checking back!
