Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure Announced

Gotta type 'em all

Learn With Pokemon Typing Adventure Announced
22nd June, 2012 By Sarah Morris

With the recent LA based gaming convention and news fest E3 having come and gone, it seems Nintendo have been having conference withdrawal symptoms, deciding to spring a surprise mystery press conference this morning. With plenty of information coming out about Pokemon Black/White Version 2, as well as it's downloadable partner applications, Pokedex 3D Pro and Pokemon Dream Radar, most of the Pokemon themed announcements were as we expected - but there was one we didn't see coming - with news that the previously Japanese only (they always get all the cool stuff...) Pokemon-themed typing teacher would be making it's way to Europe this autumn.

Seemingly, the Japanese have a bit of an obsession with games that teach you to type - while Mavis Beacon taught deathly dull keyboard skills in the western world, the land of the rising sun was incorporating typing in a bunch of more, well, game-y games. Even the moustachioed plumber Mario got in on the typing phenomenon with Mario Teaches Typing, where blocks, koopas and goombas were all painted with letters you needed to press to advance. And perhaps the strangest entry in the genre was Sega's The Typing Of The Dead, where you had to survive against a bunch of zombies seemingly weak against your awesome keyboard skills.

Maybe the zombies die laughing at their ridiculous get ups...

And now, nearly a decade later, enter Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure, where you play the part of a researcher rounding up the little critters by typing their names as they run towards you. With over four hundred Pokemon to find, type and collect, you're going to have your work cut out for you too - especially as the stages get trickier the further you go. With room for only four mistakes, you'll need to be both accurate and speedy to win.

Perhaps an odd choice for a handheld, the game will be released for the DS this September, and will come bundled with the Nintendo Wireless Keyboard, which can be used with other bluetooth-enabled devices too. Even if we don't really need help learning to type, the prospect of a new, quirky Pokemon game has us interested - we're hoping Nintendo will release more details soon.

There seems to be a mixture of both new and old Pokemon to research.
