Me and Kirby have something in common - we both like eating. And while Kirby is known for his huge appetite - huge enough that he can easily swallow an enemy or 7 (as seen in the trailer for his upcoming Wii platform game, Kirby Wii) - how much could a mob of ten of them eat?
Kirby: Mass Attack is set to be another one of those different takes on a platform game Kirby does from time to time, as it's not like the little pink blob to do things by the book. But while Kirby: Power Paintbrush on the DS had him turned into a ball that followed rainbow paths you drew on the Touch Screen, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror was more of a maze game, than a platform game, Kirby: Mass Attack puts you in charge of a swarm of ten of the little pink puffballs, after a fateful encounter with an 'evil-doer' and a magic cane - and everyone's favourite blob is now on a quest to get himself back in one piece.
Rather than controlling your Kirby mob directly, you'll need to use the Touch Screen to flick each Kirby around, in order to defeat enemies and collect the medals hidden throughout the levels - which unlock all sorts of bonus mini-games. But the 10-Kirby-strong herd isn't the same as having 10 lives, because you'll need certain numbers of them to complete various challenges - if you don't have enough, you'll have a hunt on your hands as you try and find a piece of fruit, which for some reason grants you an extra Kirby. The Kirby swarm can also dash to a certain point if you tap the Touch Screen a few times, while swiping across the screen towards an enemy will see him mobbed by an army of angry Kirbys.
Kirby Mass Attack is due out in America on the 19th September this year - hopefully a UK release with follow shortly after. Until then, here's a trailer:
