Kirby gets his own Wii TV Channel

Some days, it seems like Nintendo are the company that keeps on giving. In the last few weeks, it's been announced that they'll be releasing Zelda: Four Sword for free on the DSi, we've had a 3DS system update, which brought with it the Nintendo eShop, which allowed you to download Excitebike and the Pokedex 3D for free, and now, Nintendo have decided the Wii seems to be being a bit left out from all the free loving - so now they're bringing a freebie to it too.

Just look at how happy he is. Tell me you don't want to download this now.

Available for download from the Wii Shop Channel today is the Kirby TV Channel, a free download that lets you watch episodes of the pink puffball's TV show, Kirby: Right Back At Ya! which has previously never been aired in the UK. Starring everyone's favourite pink blob with the insatiable appetite, it's thoroughly family friendly stuff - but that doesn't mean there's not enough cheese here for the big kids to enjoy it too. There's a choice of four episodes on offer at anyone time, which stream over the internet to your console completely free of charge. Unlike certain other systems, the streaming seems flawless too, with our console not having to stop to buffer itself once.

There are four episodes available at any one time, with each being available for a fortnight. Two new episodes will be released each week, one on a Monday, and one on a Thursday, and you'll only have fourteen days to watch them, at which point they'll be archived, forever. Luckily, should you miss out on an episode, the Kirby TV Channel does occasionally award you keys, which let you watch any episode from the archive - which is handy if you've missed out by going on holiday, or simply forgetting.

Either way, it's a great idea of Nintendo's, and one we'd love to see more of. It's the sort of thing that we know other companies would charge for too, so it's great to see Nintendo leveraging their huge back catalogue of cool things for free. The petition to see a Pokemon TV Channel starts here. Fingers crossed.
