This is one of those slightly surreal moments where something we've always thought would be a great idea - and something we've always secretly hoped might happen - actually seems to be coming true. For years, we've thought it'd be great if there were a game that let you explore an accurately mapped Disneyland for yourself. Working as a great advert for Disneyland, whilst also being a pretty cool game (Buzz Lightyear's Lazer Blast would work particularly well, as it's practically a lightgun game in itself), it all just seemed to make sense. Brilliantly, it seems someone else has agreed, with the announcement of Disneyland Adventures.
Although there's very little information out at the moment, there's a lot that can be acertained from the above footage, taken from a French video of a pre-E3 (gaming's largest trade show, which kicks off today) showing. Going from the above footage and our very basic grasp of French, it looks like you'll be free to wander around Disneyland as you see fit, doing everything from collecting items and exploring, to virtually hugging Mickey Mouse as you go, all using your Xbox 360 and Kinect. If our ropey French is anything to go by, there'll be twelve "rides" available, which are actually minigames based upon the rides themselves - in the video, you see the player walk into Peter Pan's Flight, and start a minigame which sees Peter and Wendy swooping around Neverland - much like the ride itself. Also mentioned are Pirates of the Caribbean, and, strangely, Marne La Vallee, which is where Disneyland Paris is located. Maybe we'll get to explore Disneylands from around the world?
Disneyland Adventures is rumoured to be just the beginning of a bigger partnership between Microsoft and Disney. While pricing, or even whether it'll be a full disk release, or a downloadable game has yet to be confirmed, we'll have more details at Microsoft's press conference, which kicks off at 5:30pm GMT tonight. Head over to xbox.com, and you'll be able to watch the events as they unfold.
