We're not sure if it's just the rose-tinted spectacles talking, but we're 99% sure the Disney Channel used to be a million times better when we were kids. Showing proper cartoons like TaleSpin, Ducktales and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers alongside reruns of their popular animated films, rather than these strange American teen dramas they do now, we have fond memories of many a Saturday morning spent staring at the box over a bowl of Nesquik cereal.
Still - we suppose someone somewhere must watch all the Hannah Montanas and That's So Ravens, given that it's the number one most watched channel, and most popular network for kids and tweens. So, it should come as no surprise that, following up on their last Disney-inspired dancing hit, the folks behind the multi-million selling Just Dance series have a second entry up their sleeve - Just Dance: Disney Party 2, a Wii Remote wanging dancing game that's set for release this Christmas. Following the same winning format as earlier Just Dance games, all you have to do is follow the on screen characters/prompts, and dance like they do, either with a Wii Remote in your hand, or, if you're playing on the Xbox One or Xbox 360, simply by standing in front of your Kinect sensor, with points awarded for how closely you follow the moves. With more than twenty tracks taken from the Disney Channel's most recent hits, from films like 'Descendants', 'Teen Beach Movie' and 'Teen Beach 2' to popular shows like 'Girl Meets World', 'K.C. Undercover' and 'Liv and Maddie', it's sure to be a hit with their all-singing, all-dancing stable of young female fans.
Apparently, the team behind the game have worked closely with Disney to give the on-screen characters a distinctive Disney Channel look, using real teenagers/young actors to play out the dance moves on the screen for you to follow. And while they don't appear to be the exact actors from the shows, many of them do look fairly similar at least, which should please younger fans. Those playing on the Xbox One will also be able to sing along to their favourite songs while dancing along, via the exclusive karaoke feature.
So, without further ado, here's the first thirteen tracks for the game - and if that wasn't unlucky enough, they're all from Disney Channel TV shows too. You might want to add a pair of earplugs to that Christmas list...
- Austin & Ally - Chasin' the Beat of My Heart
- Descendants - Did I Mention
- Descendants - Rotten to the Core
- Descendants - Evil Like Me
- Descendants - Set It Off
- Girl Meets World - Take on the World
- K.C. Undercover - Keep It Undercover
- Teen Beach Movie - Cruisin' for a Bruisin'
- Teen Beach Movie - Falling for Ya / Surf's Up
- Teen Beach 2 - That's How We Do
- Teen Beach 2 - Gotta Be Me
- Teen Beach 2 - Twist Your Frown
- Violetta - En Mi Mundo
Just Dance: Disney Party 2 will be twirling it's way onto consoles later this year, at around Christmas time, hitting the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U. The eagle-eyed among you will notice there's no Playstation versions listed. As the previous Just Dance Disney Party game also never came out on the Playstation 3, though, it's unlikely to be a typo. Obviously Disney fans and Playstation users are two mutually exclusive groups of people...
