We're huge, huge fans of the LEGO series here at Outcyders - from the early days of LEGO Star Wars (well, technically even earlier, with Lego Island) to the more recent LEGO Batman, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings games, we've played them all. But we have a special place in our hearts for LEGO Marvel - few things beat running through the streets of New York as the Hulk, hurling cars at that pedestrian that dared look at you funny, whilst your more competent co-op partner (playing as Iron Man, naturally) busies himself with some proper super hero business. So, you can imagine our excitement when a sequel, imaginatively titled LEGO Marvel's Avengers, was announced earlier in the year.
Unfortunately, details are a little on the thin side at the moment - we're kind of expecting a bit of a blow out in the next week or two, given that it's the biggest event in the games industry calendar next week, E3 - but we're writing today to bring you news of the game's very first trailer. As we may have hinted at, we don't really need too much in the way of details to get excited, as it'll probably be much the same as every other Lego game ever released in recent years - a delightfully light-hearted take on your favourite film franchises, mixed with slapstick comedy, simple puzzles and some bad guy bashing, all wrapped up in an adorably blocky LEGO style. And with the game's predecessor, LEGO Marvel, being perhaps the best entry in the revered LEGO series so far, we're getting seriously excited.
While LEGO Marvel Super Heroes had it's own, totally new story written for it, the upcoming LEGO Marvel's Avengers is set to follow the plot of the two Avengers films, Avengers: Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Letting you take control of the cutesy LEGO-ised versions of the world's mightiest heroes, you'll smash, bash and build your way through some of the most memorable moments from the films, such as the mahoosive Battle of New York against super villain Loki and his minions, as seen at the end of the first film.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers is due out later this year, in the 'winter', and will be available on pretty much every platform known to mankind - the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, PS Vita, Wii U, 3DS and PC. So, without further ado, here's the trailer - in all it's Hulk-selfie-taking glory. Now all we need is a Lego: Guardians of the Galaxy and we'll die happy!
