Promising an epic story, and a more rock oriented setlist, could this be the reboot Guitar Hero needs?

Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock Confirmed

Hot off the heels of the Amazon listing rumouring the new name for Guitar Hero 6, today Activision confirmed the latest instalment in their button mashing rhythm action franchise is going to be called Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

Heading back to the fantastical story modes of Guitar Hero 2 and 3, the main story mode, (known as Quest Mode) in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock has you setting off on an epic journey to help the demi-God of rock (voiced by Kiss' Gene Simmons) take down "The Beast", and save Rock n' Roll. We just hope this doesn't mean the return of the boss battles.

In addition to the Quest Mode, Quickplay has also been given an overhaul, with the introduction of Quickplay+, featuring 13 unique challenges for each song on the disc.

Songs confirmed for the game so far include the likes of Dragonforce, Drowning Pool, and Fallout Boy, and a specially written track by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth for the Quest mode. Here's the full list of confirmed tracks:

  • AFI - "Dancing Through Sunday"

With the largest on-disc array of songs seen in a rhythm action game, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock already looks like it's going to surpass World Tour and Guitar Hero 5, and finally bring Guitar Hero back to how it should be. Nonsensical, and brilliant. We're keeping all our limbs crossed.
