As the UK braces itself for a heatwave this weekend, things on the music game front are heating up too, with the next batch of tracks being revealed for the upcoming rock simulator, Guitar Hero Live. Lined up for a face off against band-based competitor Rock Band this autumn, Guitar Hero promises more realism than ever, letting you rock out on stage, with a first person view of your 'real-life' audience. Stepping into the shoes of famous bands as they perform on stage, Guitar Hero Live is shaping up to be different, to say the least. But what's a music game without tracks to play along with? Revealed earlier today, the latest dose of Guitar Hero Live tunes are the usual mix of old and new, albeit with a few too many songs that have previously featured on other games, if you ask us. The full list is as follows:
- Halestorm - Love Bites (So Do I)
- Tenacious D - Tribute
- Beartooth - I Have a Problem
- Pearl Jam - Mind Your Manners
- Rise Against - Tragedy + Time
- Soundgarden - Been Away Too Long
- Anthrax - Got The Time
- Architects - Gravedigger
- Chevelle - The Clincher
- A Day To Remember - Right Back At It Again
- Queen - Tie Your Mother Down
- Alice In Chains - Stone
- Bullet For My Valentine - Temper Temper
- Deap Vally - Lies
- Wolfmother - Sundial
- Weezer - Buddy Holly
- Angus & Julia Stone - A Heartbreak
- Catfish and the Bottlemen - Kathleen
- Neon Trees - Everybody Talks
- New Politics - Harlem
Arguably the best tunes out of the whole list are Tenacious D's Tribute and Buddy Holly by Weezer - but unfortunately, they're both tracks that have appeared on the Rock Band downloadable store a while ago, and so are songs we've already played to death. And while few other tunes could compete with The Greatest Song In The World, Rise Against's Tragedy + Time, and Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm are fairly decent songs, we suppose. And we have at least a passing knowledge of Bullet For My Valentine, even if we're not too familiar with Temper Temper, and Queen is, well, Queen. Both the Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains tracks are more recent forays outside of their more well known grunge beginnings (and as such don't really hit the high notes of Even Flow/Jeremy and Man In The Box/Angry Chair). Outside of them though, we don't really know any - a quick Youtube reveals Beartooth to be some awful screamo band, as are Architects, but thankfully Catfish and the Bottlemen seems to be a bit more ear-friendly, at least.
To be honest, we're a tiny bit disappointed with the track list so far - and out of today's batch of twenty tracks, only two are must plays. But, with more songs likely to come out of the woodwork in the coming weeks, as we build up to Guitar Hero Live's release later this year, we're keeping our fingers well and truly crossed.
