Over the last few weeks, Guitar Hero seems to have started lagging slightly behind on the downloadable content side of things, one week offering up an amazing track pack, and then the next, giving us a band we've never heard of.
Having just announced the track packs that will be coming out in May (or at least, the first three weeks of it), it seems like the downloadable offering is quickly starting to improve, as Activision wheel out the heavy hitters once more on the Wii and Xbox 360 - although, we are starting to get a slight feeling of deja vu...
May 6th - Classic Rock 3 Track Pack
Wheeling out the big guns at the start of the month, the Classic Rock 3 Track Pack will see tracks from Foreigner, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Steve Miller Band taking centre stage, with Foreigner providing Juke Box Hero, the third single off their 1981 album, 4, the Steve Miller Band adding Take the Money and Run, while Lynyrd Skynyrd round off a good package with Sweet Home Alabama. The only odd choice here is in fact Sweet Home Alabama, as it featured on Guitar Hero: World Tour, and is therefore already available on Guitar Hero 5, and Band Hero, if you export the tracks.
May 11th - Alternative Pop Track Pack
A bit of an odd name for a genre, the Alternative Pop track pack will feature songs from Alpha Rev, Capra, and Scottish whiners Snow Patrol. Featuring Face Down, taken from Alpha Rev's latest album, a song called Low Day, by Capra, and You're All I Have - which is the first single from Snow Patrol's new album, the track pack will set you back the standard 440 Microsoft Points, or 550 Wii Points.
May 18th - Aerosmith Track Pack
Ending the month - at least in Guitar Hero-land - in style are Aerosmith, who will be lending three huge songs to the Guitar Hero store - Rag Doll, Livin' on the Edge, and the classic Love in an Elevator. A little bit disappointing, as all of these songs are already available in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, this is actually the first time any of these songs will be available for play as a full band (with guitar, bass, drums and vocal parts) - only you can decide whether the extra two parts makes the track pack worthy of a purchase.
