After having released (at least) one Guitar Hero game a year for the past few years, you wouldn't have be Nostradamus to be able to predict a new Guitar Hero game, but now this year's instalment has finally been made official. In Activision's financial call yesterday, Activision COO Thomas Tippl confirmed that Guitar Hero 6, and DJ Hero 2 would be making an appearance this Autumn.
"This year, we've added more great, original music, new and innovative gameplay modes, and a significantly enhanced social gameplay experience. We expect to follow each release with a full lineup of exciting downloadable content."
Exciting news indeed. We can't get enough of the plastic guitar games here, so even the mere mention of a new Guitar Hero game is enough to get us excited - and we'll be expecting a first public appearance of the game, along with some concrete details, around the Electronic Entertainment Expo in mid June. Our palms are already sweaty with anticipation.
Of course, the news that Guitar Hero 6 was on its way has been public knowledge for quite a while, thanks to Gene Simmon's gaffe during an interview with Game On, where he claimed he was "the voice of Guitar Hero 6". While Gene certainly blew the game's cover, by practically announcing a game that had been kept a closely guarded (if somewhat predictable) secret, the inclusion of KISS certainly wouldn't be surprising, seeing as they seem to have made an appearance in pretty much every Guitar Hero game since the beginning of time.
Good news for KISS fans, then. Bad news for the rest of us.
