In the past, the UK game retailer cunningly known as GAME has run numerous Pokémon giveaways. From a shiny Gengar with it's own Gengarite, for mega evolution, and the new legendary rock-fairy, Diance - who coincidentally starred in the latest Pokémon film, the retailer has struck deal after deal with Nintendo to help get people through the doors of their store, lured in with the tempting carrot of a free codes for a Pokémon. I mean, really, what trainer doesn't want a free epic Pokémon? Training is for losers, or people with far too much time on their hands.
But, Nintendo and GAME are now taking it up a notch.
Gotta catch 'em all? Why would you need to worry about catching them, when the next give away is Darkrai - the terrifying shadow Pokémon of your worst nightmares - but also your wildest Pokémon Master dreams! Tying with Weavile for the highest speed of all dark type Pokémon, this Gen IV (in English - it debuted in Pokémon Platinum) legendary is both horrifying and powerful, a perfect combo for scaring people off during battle!
Interestingly, Darkrai has only ever been available before during similar giveaway events like this in Japan. You've never been able to catch one, and this is the first time it's been distributed in the UK. As an extremely rare and legendary Pokémon, who just so happens to be featured in the recent animé film, Pikachu: What's This Key?, it's well worth the trip down to your nearest friendly GAME store.
While specific details as to how you actually go about downloading Darkrai onto your console aren't yet clear (will you use the game's mystery gift function over WiFi? Will you have to ask for a code you can put into your game?) the distribution begins tomorrow, Friday the 13th (how appropriate!), and all you have to do is head into your local GAME store. With one of the rarest legendaries waiting to be caught - and the Pokémon distribution being compatible with both the recent Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon X and Y, there really is no excuse.
Darkrai should be available for around a fortnight - so hurry up trainers, and collect yours!
