Even though it's pretty much guaranteed that we'll get a yearly Just Dance fix, it can sometimes seem like an unbearable wait, as we slowly count down the days to the next instalment, looking forward to the time when we'll be able to grab a Wii Remote, and swing it round to a whole new selection of tracks and routines. Suddenly, though, the eternal wait feels a heck of a lot shorter, as Ubisoft have lifted the lid on the tracks we'll be getting down to later this year. As always, there's an eclectic mix of tracks for you to dance along to, following the handy on-screen prompts, from the old to the new, the classic to the contemporary, and the great, to the, er, not so great. With a stonking variety of tracks, to coin a phrase, there's something everyone can enjoy in here, with songs designed to get everyone, from five to eighty-five year olds up and moving - although we're not sure how grandma will take to Micki Minaj. With a wide range of cheesy classics too, including the Final Countdown, Never Gonna Give You Up, and (I've Had) The Time of My Life, it seems Just Dance won't be going serious on us any time soon - which is certainly fine by us. That said, while it's impossible to get a track listing that's to everybody's taste, things do seem to be leaning a tad towards the modern side, while the omission of Katy Perry seems somewhat odd, too.
Set to launch on the 2nd October later this year, Just Dance 4 will be shimmying its way onto the Wii U, Wii, Xbox 360 (using Kinect), and Playstation 3 (using Move), bringing with it a whole host of new features and tweaks to the standard Just Dance format, including Battle Mode, which lets you compete with your friend across a mash-up of six tracks; unlockable alternate choreographies; and, on the Wii U, several exclusive features, including the ability to become the Puppet Master, and control your friend's dancing, choosing what moves they have to do in real time, depending on how they're doing, letting you be as nice or nasty as you please.
As big fans of Just Dance here at Outcyders, we'll be keeping our beady eye on this one as we approach the game's launch - only this time, we're in something of a dilemma, as we're torn as to what platform to buy it on! Will you be waiting it out for the Wii U version (as we'd imagine the Wii U won't be out in time for the game's October launch), or sticking with the familiar?
