First Official Pokemon screens released

See Pokemon Black and White in their full glory

First Official Pokemon screens released
15th April, 2010 By Ian Morris

Yes, OK, we realise we posted practically the same screenshots the other day - but these are the first official screens, fresh from Nintendo's PC - and that means we can enjoy them fully, without having to twist our heads to bizarre angles and squint to make out what the magazine scans are actually trying to show us.

The screenshots below show off Pokemon Black and White in all its glory - and beyond the new 3D perspective, the new shots show a little bit more of the new direction Black and White are going to take. The battles now look slightly more 3D than before, with each Pokemon having their own shadow, and we're assured the camera will sweep around, to give you a better view of the action. The other thing we hadn't notice before is the fact that one of the screenshots has a car/bike/van in it - which certainly seems to suggest that Pokemon Black and White may be a lot more urban - and grey, than the games that have come before.

We're not sure we like the idea of that, really. See what you think for yourself, as the new screenshots are posted below.

There's a car/van/bike on the road here - what happens if you stand in front of it?

Skyscrapers - and black, urban environments give Pokemon Black and White a different feel.

We like the effect on the grass. Not sure how to describe it, but it looks nice. Our Year 6 teacher would have us strung up now for using nice as an adjective.
