Square-Enix have announced that the last instalment of their Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy XIII, will be getting a direct sequel - which, somewhat confusingly, won't be known as Final Fantasy XIV, as that's an entirely different game - instead being given the uber-imaginative moniker Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Final Fantasy XIII takes place on the fictional floating world of Cocoon, where the government have ordered the eviction of anyone who has come into contact with something from 'Pulse', a world which floats below. It follows the story of a group of allies, all branded as enemies of the state, who must run for their lives and try to prevent the destruction of their world as it descends into chaos.
Precious little details have been revealed so far, but what there is is enough to get us excited, as Square are still the masters of the epic role playing game. Apparently featuring "a brand-new story which stems from the previous title", as well as a move evolved battle system, whatever that might mean, hopefully, more information will be available in the coming months, so make sure you keep checking back. In the mean time, Square-Enix have released a teaser trailer to be going on with, which you can find below:
