A while back, Nintendo announced that they would be offering downloads of the three legendary dog Pokemon, Raikou, Entei and Suicune via the games Mystery Gift function. As an added bonus, if you download all three Pokemon, you'll also be able to encounter two new Pokemon in the upcoming Pokemon Black and White. Due out on the 4th March, if you've downloaded all three legendary Pokemon, all you'll have to do is transfer the legendary trio across, where they'll trigger an event that'll let you catch a Zorua and it's evolution Zoroak.
Far from just being a normal, bog standard legendary Pokemon, these special downloads are what are referred to as 'shiny' pokemon, meaning they sport a different colour scheme to normal. Each of the trio will only be available for download for a week, with last week's download, Raikou, having been and gone, so you'll have to be quick if you want to grab yourself this week's Pokemon...
Entei
Entei looks vaguely like a lion with a handlebar moustache, who's got on the wrong side of a banana skin in his last game of Mario Kart. He's the vandal of the legendary pokemon, who's said to represent the flames that burned down Ecruteak City's Brass Tower. Entei are said to be born whenever a volcano erupts - and whenever an Entei roars, a volcano erupts somewhere in the world. I guess we have that Icelandic volcano to thank for the sheer number of Enteis available to download this week then. Either that, or someone has been really annoying an Entei...
The Entei you'll receive will be on level 30, and comes packed in a Cherish Pokeball (a hallmark of all mystery gift pokemon), as well as sporting a Classic Ribbon. As with last week's Raikou, this Entei comes with four moves that it can't usually learn, making it especially useful in battles. With Flare Blitz, Entei surrounds himself in fire and charges at your enemy (although Entei doesn't get away completely unscathed); using Howl will boost his attack stat; ExtremeSpeed sees Entei charging at the foe as fast as possible, and will always get to attack first; while with Crush Claw, Entei slashes at the foe with his sharp claws, and may lower the enemy's defence in the process.
To nab yourself an Entei, you'll need to launch your DS Pokemon game (Pokemon Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Platinum, Diamond and Pearl will all work) and on the start menu, scroll down to select 'Mystery Gift', then 'Receive Gift' and finally 'Get Via Nintendo WFC'. Your DS may need s bit of setting up, if you've never used the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection before - Nintendo's official website takes you through it here. Once you've recieved the mystery gift, all that's left to do is to stroll into to the nearest PokeMart in the game, and have a word with the man in the green suit and hat, who'll hand over your new pokemon - you'll need a space for another pokemon in your party though, before he'll let you have it.
With the last Legendary Pokemon still to come, be sure to check back, as we'll be posting a profile up as soon as he's ready for download. With the launch of Pokemon Black and White just weeks away, we're sure to have more pokemon-related news stories coming in the run up to launch - so be sure to keep checking back.
