Caution: may explode when thrown

Disgaea 5 demo coming this Friday
14th September, 2015 By Sarah Morris

What do exploding penguins, sardine-obsessed vampires and pudding-related murder all have in common? How about Godzilla-themed special attacks, love-riddled fallen angels and damage counts that regularly enter the millions? If you answered Disgaea, then give yourself a self-adhesive star, dood - and if the aforementioned insanity has peaked your interest, then read on to find out how you can get in on the craziness for free (kinda)!

A bit of a niche title, Disgaea is a series of strategic role-playing games that are more than a little unusual. While its grid-based maps, take-it-in-turns battles and multitude of different character classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, may sound pretty standard, it's the game's light-hearted and silly nature that really sets it apart. From crazy special attacks, where party members all team up to throw enemies through intergalactic basketball hoops; to the ability to travel inside your weapons and clear floors of a dungeon to increase its power; and the insane level caps for your characters, it's a game that's all about pushing the limits in hilariously over the top ways. And with a new title just around the corner, there's never been a better time to get into the madcap Disgaea insanity!

Stacking and throwing your party members at enemies is another fun feature of the Disgaea series.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, to give it its proper name, marks the series' first foray onto the Playstation 4, and tells a slightly more darker tale of revenge and rebellion. A new and terrible Overlord, Void Dark, seeks to enslave and control the Netherworld - and only one demon can stop him. Playing as Killia, the leader of a tenacious army of rebels, it's up to you to lead them on their perilous journey of revenge. Promising more over-the-top action and hilarious writing than ever before, as well as new revenge attacks, where companions increase in strength when they see their friends being beaten up, Disgaea 5 is shaping up to be the biggest and craziest entry in the series yet!

Whether you're a newcomer to the series or a seasoned pro, you'll be wanting to check out the Disgaea 5 demo when it hits the PS4 Playstation Store in just a few days, on the 18th September, giving you an extra early tasted of the game before its launch on the 9th October. Awesome, dood!
