Dead Rising 2 to feature improved Save System

Oh, and co-op!

Dead Rising 2 to feature improved Save System
12th April, 2010 By Ian Morris

Just when we thought Dead Rising 2 couldn't possibly sound much better, in a recent Game Informer article, Capcom announced that the story mode will include co-op!

Our anticipation-o-meter just erupted.

Unlike recent Capcom co-op games though, the story won't include another character who just gets in the way if you're playing in single player, but rather simply have the second player playing as another Chuck. There goes our hopes for playing as Frank West.

Another thing mentioned in the article is the new save system Dead Rising 2 will use. A lot of peoples main gripes with the previous game was that, when Frank unfortunately snuffed it, it gave players two options "Load Game", which obviously let them load their previous game, or "Save Status and Quit". This then saved the fact that you'd died in that playthrough, so any progress you'd made through the story was lost and the next time you played the game, you'd start from Day 1. It caught us out a few times, but thankfully, it sounds like it won't happen this time around.

Chuck Greene. He may not have covered wars, but he can certainly handle two chainsaws duck-taped to an oar.

Fans of the previous game should also remember that Frank West was a photojournalist, and his camera played quite an integral part of leveling up during the game to learn new skills. In short - take a photo to earn PP (Prestige Points) - the more zombies that were in it, the more PP you gained. Get a certain amount of PP, and you'll level up. Chuck isn't a photojournalist, so he's going to have to get his PP via different means. Creating new weapons (Like the chainOar seen above), amassing chains of moves and defeating zombies in more imaginative ways using the environment will earn Chuck the bonus PP he'll need to level up and help him get to the bottom of what's happened in Fortune City.

For those of you who can't wait until Dead Rising 2 comes out (like us), Capcom are releasing Dead Rising: Case Zero exclusively for Xbox 360 to bridge the gap between the stories of Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2. We'll have more news on Case Zero, and Dead Rising 2 when we get it.
