We all like to try out games before we have to decide whether or not their worth our hard earned cash - and with Microsoft's super-hero sandbox game, Crackdown 2 out towards the start of July, Microsoft recently announced that players will be able to put their super-hero skills to the test, with the release of a playable demo on the 9th of July.
However, in a rather unusual twist, if you play the Crackdown 2 demo, you'll be able to do more than just see if the game's worth the investment, as you'll actually be able to unlock achievements.
With 10 of the achievements from the full game on offer in the demo, you'll be able to pre-emptively reserve 100 of the 1000 gamerpoints available before the game is even out. Of course, you'll only be able to actually properly unlock the achievements, and have them show up on your profile, once you've bought the full game.
Like the demo for the original Crackdown, the Crackdown 2 demo gives you half an hour with the game world to do what you want - literally. Playing as a genetically modified cop, you can leap buildings, pick up cars, and kick enemies so hard they fly into the horizon. For fans of collectables, you'll be able to start the long, winding road to improving your character by making use of Crackdown 2's levelling system - improving your driving skills by pulling off tricks in cars, you physical skills by phsyically apprehending criminals, and your agility by collecting agility orbs, that are scattered around the map in hard to reach places.
As if you needed any more convincing, the demo even had full support for four player co-op, allowing you and three friends to explore the City, and fight crime as you see fit.
It's a nice incentive for people to pick up the demo instead of waiting for the full release, so we suggest you give the demo a go too when it's released on the 21st of June.
