What seems like an awfully long time ago now (and it was, seeing as it was six months ago, in January) we reported that one of our favourite Xbox Live Arcade developers, NinjaBee, were developing another add-on kingdom for their fantastical city-building game, A World Of Keflings - and that they were leaving it up to their fans to decide which add-on they'd make out of a choice of a zombies theme, pirates or 'candy' (they mean sweets). And as you've probably worked out by now, Candy won.
A World Of Keflings had your giant avatar working as a builder/town-planner/tyrannical overlord for a bunch of pint-sized people with a penchant for hats, helping them shape their worlds into the kingdom of their dreams. You needed to collect raw materials like wood, stone, or ice, which could then be transformed into other, more useful, things that then in turn could be combined to make up the buildings of your kingdom - whilst helping out the cast of colourful characters along the way. Whether it was defrosting a frozen Kefling, finding a rebellious princess who'd skipped school or helping with a giggly witch's dastardly deeds, there wasn't really a dull moment in Keflingdom.
The 'World' part of the title came from the fact that the original game featured three distinct kingdoms, each with their own characters, buildings and resources to gather. But the folks at Ninja Bee don't seem content with just three kingdoms, and seemingly plan to release a whole host more as downloadable add-ons - we've helped aliens repair their crashed space ship in the 'It Came From Outer Space' add-on, now there's 'Candy For Keflings', and, judging by how close the fan vote was, there ought to be plenty more to come too. We still think Pirates for Keflings should have won. Sad yarr.
Unfortunately we don't really know an awful lot about what new features are going to be coming in the add-on - except lots of chocolates, cakes and other sweet stuff, anyway. With the promise it'll be releasing soon, we'll imagine that it'll only be a matter of time before we hear more on the story, release date and pricing (although we're expecting a similar 320 Microsoft Points/£2.72 price as the last one) - in the mean time, why not check out the scrumptious gallery of the first screenshots below.
