With the slow but sure decline of survival horror games - with only really Resident Evil Revelations and The Evil Within keeping the genres head above water - those looking for a quick scare from their games have had few real options as of late. Luckily for them, then, a small indie developer known as Erdox Interactive have risen from the depths, to conjure a brand new horror game out of the shadows, in the oddly monikered Bizerta: Silent Evil.
Although only few details have been released, we know what started out as a Playstation Vita/PS Mobile game will now be released as - shock horror - an exclusive on Nintendo's Wii U, where it promises to make full use of the consoles innovative Gamepad, as only the second game of its kind since ZombiU.
In Bizerta, you play a 15 year old average boy who one day wakes up grey, twice his age and to top it all off in the middle of a strange and deserted world, dark and eerily lit by the dim glow of but a few street lamps in a gloomy, obscure place. After taking a few steps forward, you stumble upon what appears to be a dull and dreary abandoned asylum, containing a mortuary, a public restroom, age torn corridors and what once was a perfectly decorated lobby. Spooky, right?
Erdox are planning on making Bizerta as close to the old school survival horror classics as possible, and from what we can see, the game will be jam packed with mind numbing puzzles and mechanical mini games which will make special use of the Wii U's GamePad (think unlocking doors with the touch screen, or blowing dust off an old picture).
Although developers are keeping surprisingly quiet so far, with only a handful of screenshots, and nothing in the way of a trailer, or even an official site to truly whet appetites, Bizerta: Silent Evil certainly looks (and sounds) as though it has potential - and let's face it, the Wii U could always use a few good exclusives. We're also excited to see what features the GamePad will use and how it will pan out on your gameplay - so watch this space for more as we get it!
