FIFA 11. A game my brother gets rather excited about. And a game I dread playing because I'm so awful at it, and never know which way I'm supposed to shoot (just run against the people who don't have the same shirts! - Ian). However, FIFA have now come up with a solution for one of my problems, by letting me play as the goal keeper - meaning I should be able to tell which goal I should be shooting at. Basically, not the one I'm standing in.
Previously on FIFA, you could play online in a ten vs ten match - where you played as, and stayed as, just one of the people on the pitch for the entire game. The only person you couldn't play as was the goalie, who remained under computer control - but now, with FIFA 11, you'll be able to step into his boots - or gloves, if you'd prefer. Apparently, as well as playing as a goalie online, you can also play through an entire fifteen season career as a goal keeper, if that floats your boat. Sounds like it has the potential to be a tad boring to us. Unless, of course, you're playing for a very bad team.
And for those of you who probably need all the help you can get (like me, who needs someone to go over the controls very slowly every time I try to play), EA have even released a handy tutorial video, explain how 'Be a Goal Keeper' works in FIFA 11:
FIFA 11, the world's most popular football game, hits stores on the 1st of October. If you have a younger sibling or son with more than a passing interest in football, he probably already wants it. This year, they may even be something for you to do, too.
Stay tuned until then, when we're sure a whole new load of football game-related news will come out. Hopefully they can find a way to fix me being awful for next years game too.
