Keen to try and emphasise the fact that their latest console, the WiiU has strong support from a number of developers, a fairly long segment of Nintendo's E3 conference covered Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition, a "director's cut" style port of the immensely popular Batman: Arkham City that launched on the 360, PS3 and PC late last year.
Set a year after the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum - the Dark Knight inspired, free-roaming third person Batman simulator that turned out to be the best Batman game since Batman: The Movie on the Amiga, Arkham City sees Bruce Wayne (AKA the Batman) imprisoned by Hugo Strange in the aforementioned Arkham City, a reallocated area of Gotham City that's been built to replace the Arkham Asylum, and hold Gotham's ever increasing criminal population. Surrounded by hundreds of criminals that he's helped put away, Bruce has to get out of Arkham City as quickly as possible, and put a stop to whatever nefarious scheme Hugo Strange has up his sleeve.
Including all the downloadable add-ons previously released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Arkham City (so that's the Harley Quinn's Revenge story-mode add-on, a number of additional "Challenge Maps" (ever-increasingly difficult rooms designed to test your bat-capabilities), three additional characters (Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing) for use in the Challenge Maps, and a number of different outfits for each character), all whilst introducing a number of WiiU exclusive features (all of Batman's gadgets have been redesigned to work effortlessly with the WiiU GamePad, including a motion controlled Batarang - perfect for people who aren't too great with analogue sticks), Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition looks set to be the definitive version of the game, which should hopefully make up for it launching so much later than the PS3 and 360 version.
